In a Facebook post yesterday the dedicated organiser’s of the highly successful Woofstock festival 2017 announced that Woofstock will return to Dartmouth in 2018:
Now we can all look forward to another successful event next year with another 2000 or more visitors staying in the town and enjoying what Dartmouth has to offer. Remember the footfall cameras showed that there was an increase of over 6% in the retail area of Dartmouth during the week of this one day festival.
There is still the issue of gaining the Councils support for the event, but Councillor Steve Smith (Champion of the people of Dartmouth) has asked for a vote on the issue of the festival’s long term future on Coronation Park. The Mayor has asked him to request the issue be added to the next Council meeting agenda on October 2nd at 7pm. I hope that the Woofstock supporters, or “Crufts”as they are referred to by the Mayor, will attend in numbers again to hear the debate.
Remember though the public will rightly not be allowed to participate in that debate, so we must allow the Councillors to have their say. It has been suggested that the vote be recorded, which means that the Councillors who vote for or against will be identified in the minutes of the meeting.
Lets hope we can deliver a long term future for Woofstock in this town.
