Congratulations to the Food Festival organiser’s who again created a fantastic event for Dartmouth, marred only by my second to last place in the Victoria Sponge competition, which was thoroughly deserved (it was rubbish!). However my fabulously talented wife Brenda managed a magnificent second and joint third in the Non alcoholic Cordial competition.
The report shows that the week on week Dartmouth figures grew by over 11% on the previous week and, when using the UK drop of 4% as a reference this is probably 15% up on the national trend. However the annual Dartmouth figure compared to last years festival was down by a significant -27.8%.
Clearly the weather this year was not as kind as it has been in previous years so the drop is not too much of a surprise. The UK figures also show a relatively big drop as well but only at -5% level.
I will make no further comments on this result but I would like to hear a responses from those organisations who are concerned or involved in the economy of Dartmouth. If the footfall figures are reflected in economic activity then the long term impact on employment in the town could be significant.
Definitions have been clarified by Springboard as follows:
YTD: ‘Year to Date’ is the annual % change in footfall for the year so far, compared to the same period last year
QTD: ‘Quarter to Date’ is the annual % change in footfall for the quarter so far, compared to the same period last year
MTD: ‘Month to Date’ is the annual % change in footfall for the month so far, compared to the same period last year
YoY: ‘Year on Year’ is the % change in footfall from the same week in the previous year
WoW: ‘Week on Week’ is the % change in footfall from the previous week.
I’m not sure if the team mentioned to you when we set up the feed that we only capture footfall at The Quay from the front of the former National Trust shop. The Foss Street counter was removed when the contract ended.
