Don’t complain about your Town Council unless you are prepared to stand for election!!!

Thought that headline might get your attention!

It is a popular hobby in Dartmouth to complain about the performance of our Town Council. My message to you is “You elected them!”. If you think you can do better then you must stand for election this May or forever hold you peace!

We all know that they perform an important function for the town, planning its future direction, influencing the way it develops, listening to the concerns of its community and guiding both District and County Councils in their decision making. They do all of this without pay and mostly under a barrage of criticism. They are doing what they think is best for the town whether you agree with them or not.

In May of this year across the country there are local elections going on. Those elected will serve for four years and they have the potential to make a real difference to your town.

If you think you could do a better job than they are then please consider standing for election this May. The Council is holding a candidate cafe to help you to find out more about this opportunity.

Whatever you decide we must make this election count and even if you don’t stand for Council then you must vote for the candidate es who you think will do the best for the town.

We must support our Town Council to make sure Dartmouth remains the most fantastic place to live, work and play. If you click on the image below you will enter the Town Council website and learn more of what they are about.
